good afternoon Khan family I'm missing you all so much right now I can't believe the month of April is coming to an end so quickly and that we we are embarking further and further along and our distance Learning Journey I wanted to take a moment to reach out to provide some updates to our families are amazing parents guard picture of our Jaguar Scholars to let you know a little bit about the progress we've been making so far through distance learning and also to provide some updates and answers to some questions that you might be having at. Our school and Scholars forgive me if I have to periodically look at some notes I just want to make sure that I don't miss any important information to share with you all doing good news we are off to an extremely strong start with distance learning attendance last week was anywhere from 98 to 99% which is just outstanding we had one day last week where two Scholars were out to that's near a hundred percent pretty amazing super proud on the attendance more important the assignment completion rate has been really really great we have a majority of our Scholars over 80% of them in their assignments in English and math and history some of those classes are tied to 95% completion right Solutions outstanding are science completion rates are good as well there it says 90% on average there are some classes at 90% I would love to see a greater push for our Scholars and completing His science work so that were a little more consistent in their outcomes across the board also pleasing could do that we are all so proud that we are continuing to serve meal packages to all of our families that time to go pick them up please continue to do so I want to make sure that you're fully aware that the packages include dinner now which is exciting so that's also good news to share with you all this is that time of year is the time where we make some big decisions I-4 where I Scholars are going to college and universities so we're really really mean getting a lot of positive information that I we have numerous seniors who have been accepted to multiple UCSF UCB play UCLA to name a couple and other prestigious colleges so we we look forward to finding out where they commit to going and enrolling in the fall that's what we're all about getting into college stop this is that I'm here positive and positive knowledge that we are going to be very creative and how we go about celebrating our seniors will be celebrating their success on going late through the month of May for their college decisions other platforms the AP exams are coming right up there a little different this year cuz they're taking them all online which means it's absolutely imperative that are colors of AP courses take a moment to confirm their email address their email address through college board that is so this is not an alliance Outreach to catch this is all through college board they need to make sure that they verify that email address of please encourage your son or daughter to do so if they have any issues figuring out their college board accounts they can contact our account they've already sent out a one-page on how to do that in other news the biggest news I have to say is we are really really trying our best to do right by our seniors we know the class of 2020 has some really really unfortunate parts of the year that we're all working through together to make sure we can celebrate them as best we can give him the circumstances we do have a plan in place for graduation it's actually a plan a and plan B plan is that we can hold it in person August 7th 2020 we cannot Bank on that we need to have a bath the plan so our backup plan is to provide a virtual graduation ceremony which will take place on June 12th 2020 that's a Thursday the day before the last day of school we are in progress of making that happen but it will happen as a back-up plan in case the public health officials deem it to unsafe for us to hold it in person large Gathering some more on that soon and that also includes virtual practices brother senior events like senior prom we have also been updating our school website to include distance learning fee including access to Google classrooms and also the curriculum so if there are any parents who are curious to know what our Scholars are accessing for learning during this time you will be able to just got through our website by clicking on the academic Tab and then clicking on the Department's and going into each department math English Science History also studysoup labeled and you'll be able to select the like this is distance learning curriculum you can also access classes and see what the lessons are for kids during this time I also want to come progress reports I know that would normally we would have those out by now we're still working on a plan for that to be safely distributed or effectively distributed through the digital world that we're now living in so please stay tuned in our goal is to have those distributed call by May 8th at Circle so we'll do our best to update you if that changes I do know that this is a very difficult time and that learning through this way and having our school through a virtual community is is not ideal for any of us I miss our families I miss our staff and most of all I miss her Scholars I miss seeing them every morning coming into school and I can't wait to get back to that I also know that this is a very scary time for folks and uncomfortable and at times even boring but we're doing our best to try and ride that fine line of supporting folks on the social emotional level and academic level we're off to a very good start but I do want to make sure that as you come across an encounter and into her challenges that are apart from academics that you continue to reach out to our counseling and in highest rated team members have a wealth of resources to support you through the difficult times we will do our best to direct you to where to go get depending on what challenges you are facing home as best we can while we're not able to meet in person as much as we'd like so don't hesitate to reach out I will continue to provide messages like this I know it's not the best way or how it came show about things but it's the one way I know I can get information out to you quickly right now and I'm going to make sure that if you have any questions you can email me and I'll respond to you or you could email John when are parent education Specialist or anyone on our team and will get back to you we're creating a frequently-asked-questions document that also be uploaded onto our school website to follow up on some questions that you might be asking time please stay safe be well and try to find the silver linings to this very difficult time that we're all went in. We will get through it together and their will what time will we will be back at the school site but I cannot think you all through enough for your support for any credibly smooth start to this new way of learning and serving our amazing Scholars you for tuning in I wish you all well and miss you tons
