all right hello everyone good afternoon when a star MBA NEOS welcome and thank you for joining us today for a town hall meeting Christmas Gracia or assist you in the restaurant when you're on the Padres and then Anthony are you sharing screen for the PowerPoint awesome we go in the present amode all right we're going to get started today presentation is both in English and Spanish to move us along a little faster I will mostly speak in English however we have slides that are in both languages for everyone to follow along as we move through the presentation if you have a question that is relevant to the agenda item building time at the end of each item to have parents use the chat box to ask questions and we'll go from there when I was on a Saturday Vamos a comenzar una reunion in English El Tiempo para presentaciones de dos idiomas Molasky Espanol para que ustedes pueden leer mientras estoy hablando less personal chat box videos Abra Tiempo despues de cada parte in Wasilla Hendon start for the next five please okay so this is our agenda for this afternoon we are going to talk about the breaking news which I'm sure many of you know about starting virtually we're going to talk our successes from our first rounded it and did not spring 2020 and then give an overview of what we have so far planned for fall 2020 which would include hybrid model and some safety mesh that we are in progress of making and then lastly will talk about some orientation orientation days for Scholars so without further Ado go to next slide okay so the agenda let me just like we go back there we go perfect they suspect Spanish version I Cinco partes Para Orpheum curling test equipment August Alsina That was supposed to the first topic please so I've been if you know although this says today it was actually on Monday July 13th that we received notification from La unified that say we're going to start the school year virtually for the fall 2020 and the same is true about Alliance Collins family next light please message largely in response to the rising covid-19 system any of you know safety will always and continue to be at the Forefront of our work and guide us through what reopening face we move into the future someone hand we are very very sad to have to postpone and delay time seeing our Scholars we missed them. how much we miss our families would miss our staff but we cannot compromise anyone's safety and it is best that we wait and do this safely as possible for a reopening what we are doing is going to make a decision and notify families within the first marking. At first marking. Starts on August 12th and goes to September 11th it will we will determine by the 4th of September whether or not we continue with virtual instruction or begin phase in in a hybrid Construction in the meantime and many do now and have already completed we have a survey on our website and we would really really appreciate that all of our parents an opportunity to complete the survey because we are still going to continue with our plans for the hybrid model as well all right mansions we're going to assess to see if we can reopen later and additionally you're asking for you to monitor your emails for more information to continue coming through and your phones and text messages from us just keeping everything in communication with you as we find out more information if you have questions of your own in between that time and notifications coming to you can always communicate directly to me via email Jonathan or Betsy two things I want to draw your attention to are some financial assistance opportunities the first one mile LG's because the deadline for it is today but it's an opportunity that I want to make sure you're fully aware of with some links here these links will also be on our school website so you will be at go to a specimen are you have an extended deadline for the second of those two opportunities out there for financial assistance take a moment and read cancer this is going to be the first part of our agenda which is talking through the big breaking news are there any questions that parents have out there with respect to that part of our agenda before we talked about celebrations from our distance learning time. have some real positive outcomes attendance was often in the 99 percentile most days sometimes near 100% completion rates were among the highest for assignment completion rates across the entire organization where is very very proud to see that kind of outcome when are Scholars completion rates range anywhere from 70% on average to as high as 95% in some classes New Edition we acted fast to provide meal hubs and access for our families and community members to have meals on the go and we continue to offer this surface restoring our summertime as some of you may now and we're serving anywhere from five hundred or more meals a day on Mondays and Wednesdays extremely grateful for our operations staff in particular who who really really taking the lead on being there at the school site to participate and help serve the community we also held our first-ever virtual graduation ceremony for the class of 2020 while wasn't ideal to have to hold a ceremony virtually I feel really really proud and how smoothly it went and we feel that we did a safe way about honoring the class 20/20 can we take a moment to to look at some of the questions coming through Jesus will will talk more about the technical questions a little bit later in the meeting in terms of distribution for iPads enrollment in AP classes all of those things for some of these questions will actually get answered as we moved presentation it might be best to hear the rest of the presentation actually because I am seeing some great questions out there but you're going to see some of them answered as well all right we have a draft schedule that we're going to share with you it's very much a draft it's going to change but it'll give you a little bit of an idea as to what schedules are going to look like in the fall 2020 semester but when you look at them just know that they are in draft form it'll still just give you a little idea let's take a look okay this thank you this is part 1 of the schedule because it didn't all fit on the slide part 1 shows us what a typical week could look like for a scholar who has 6 course signs of them this is a sample and this is taking them from the morning starting an advisory all the way through to lunch time what you really want to note here is that we are going to launch lessons on both Monday and Tuesday based on this schedule version and the reason behind that is when we are taking more courses which is going to be a big change for a lot of folks from distance learning in the spring fall we wanted to break that up a little bit so it wasn't as overwhelming so there will be three of the six courses launched on Monday and three of the six courses launched on Tuesday between each lesson launch will be some guided practice time working on assignments and potential office hours that's going to be coming in our next draft so to speak you also see that there's a little bit of a break no today in the world that is specified at 10:30 to 10:45 to make sure that we're not completely stuck to the laptops and all staff and Scholars are moving around getting their bodies moving and trying engage in some sort of health and release throughout the day Wednesdays and Thursdays are in green because these days are really unique these days are basically tutoring days for the construed need the most support they're also the days to where are specific students who struggled will be asked to come to the school site for in-person learning meetings that's when we're ready to do the hybrid model so we're not there yet as you all know we're starting virtually but when we get there the idea is that we shift from these meetings on Wednesdays and Thursdays to go from small group sessions online to small group sessions in person and then on Fridays majority of Fridays are independent work or office hours to connect with teachers for additional help might be needed to ensure assignment completion go to the next slide place has the same schedule it's just the rest of it this is what occurs after lunch as you see this is where course 5 and core 6 which could be several different things depending on the student that's when those lessons will get launched and you also see on the in green they're when they're small group support days will occur and lastly in bold bottom-left submit work on Mondays by 11:59 p.m. so this is draft number one we will hold another town hall meeting to a revised and finalized version probably an early early early August or Late July next slide please this will answer some of the questions I saw on the chat box with regard to what type of in classes will be on offer for our for kiddos you can think of it and sort of two different Pathways so let's take a look at the yellow yellow is r93 group ninth grade what you can see right away in comparison to 10th grade is there is a reduction in core overall course load that's intentional we are a little worried about our incoming 9th grade students coming in especially after eighth grade and finishing off eighth grade the way they had to which was through distance learning so we have found a balance to where we can give a little bit of a lighter load for them to start their for high school experience which is a big physician focusing primarily on English Math and Science and then offering some folks either the option of Spanish or reading intervention course for lab course if it's required for them based on some of the deals we are identifier Lyon and then when you get the 10th grade it starts to pick up a little bit more without I would have to have your load in addition to math English and science we also have world history in other than that it's a very similar set of courses however you start to see more honors and AP courses I'm in the play so right now we have honors at a math and English well as an AP course for work and in Spanish as an opportunity for some of our kiddos excite please juniors would likely have the heaviest course owned up to six they will have English Math and Science as you can see in blue and u.s. history or AP u.s. History and then one difference that you could tell from 10th grade is that psychology starts to come into play psychology will be a new elective course that we're offering in the school year minutes to get to seniors it's similar in terms of being able to be a six-course model but it can also be a five-course model many of our seniors will have met a majority of their graduation requirements as a result of meeting in majora their graduation requirements they will have the option depending on that as long as they're on track to have a slightly reduced course schedule so there could be many instances where seniors have five horses instead of text now if we come across a situation where senior wants a six-course and that might likely occur in science because as you could see science has a very limited at the 12th grade level with this current model look into providing size especially if it's pertaining to their major for wherever they're applying a college we will and make it work next the summary of the hybrid model so in summary the way it's going to work as I called out earlier with those days in green you got to see that there were small group tutoring sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays for each course that a scholar has however when we go hybrid we're going to do a slow phase so the first quarter opportunity to do it start with English math and intervention courses and then after that quarter we will phase in other electric sorry Science and History smother elective courses and ultimately phase three will be looking to provide a greater opportunity for enrichment and some elective classes to be available to students it's just a tad staggered time to ensure that we have a small number of folks at any given moment on campus so that would show you a little bit about phase one so if you're looking at the Greene on Wednesday and Thursday is to be the first group that we would start with hybrid all right for going into safety let's see if there were any instructional questions or scholar schedule questions that may not have been answered from the presentation itself we know there's going to be a few courses we know they're doing it virtual we haven't Janelle's 9th grade Construction there is an enrollment concern please speak directly with SU saladas or Jasmine Galindo I will give you Jasmine Galindo send a message privately to the parents all right yes there is going to be zero issues with graduate the requirements are counselors that are still doing graduation checks to make sure we have the I realize I'm answering questions in Spanish that are Fence Me In Spanish but in English that's not helpful as it sorry let me try that again Las clases por ejemplo De Anza cicada versus classes que necesita para graduarse CC ontiveros Siempre estan Veritas classes necesarios para lavarse a Minnesota farmer in Telegram seeing eye Morristown Toda La Carta que sera Sido classes vs vanes are virtual I think there was one more question mr. definitely so the lessons are launched from right now we haven't drafted for 50 minute lessons class which is followed up with a 50 minute guided practice so that adds up to nearly two hours each class to start the week from there if he comes the mixed bag depending on the level of support need Christmas collar so there are cases where some will be asked to I'm on a Wednesday or Thursday not attend a virtual meeting now until the hybrid make meetings occur and they will have another additional 50 minutes of support with teachers and then lastly teachers will have additional office hours later in the week in case there are more Trinity is needed for Scholars to head get support So once you start doing the office hours of becomes really difficult to determine exactly how much time a week but our teachers were really amazing during the Spring and tunnel in a lot of ways they were there emails late at night phone calls outside the schedule Zoom will likely be the platform that most of our teachers will be using we're buying Zoom accounts to ensure that we can have no issues there answer question regarding face one on the chart that you showed earlier is that going to be used for home Virtual Mode yeah the idea is that we want to be able to transition easily from hybrid to Virtual weave for CD that once we go hybrid which we now we know is going to be at Best in September there still could be what we've already experienced which is a rising covid-19 Ron and I need to have to revert back to 100% virtual still the schedules were we're creating are going to be scheduled that allow us to flip back work with minimal disruption I want to show getting all them sorry there's also question regarding how much support are the Seahawks going to receive thank U college applications we will still have workshops from our counselors for all of our seniors to do an application for college it's just all the support was still be there it's just done virtually the counselors will be reaching out notifying seniors days and times that different workshops are going to be divided there's one more regarding there's going to be a newsletter or a su meeting regarding any changes met for College admission for students we can we can certainly provide that information we're going to be holding play with the counselors still virtually and that's where majority of that information will be coming from there's only one more question regarding our when will the teachers get in contact with the students regarding their classes and balance in Spanish Coastal Los maestros that's a great question your tryst our plan is to do exactly that is to teach a class lesson online not just post an assignment and saves do so providing some sort of live we're calling it interaction in some way shape or form it could be uploading a video of themselves teaching that way it could be also doing it live with students who make it at a certain time we're still exploring both options and Logistics of that it's getting a little tricky but we're going to try our best to provide that we did have some teachers experiment with last year in the spring so we're going to be looking at what those specific teachers did try to think through how we can potentially roll that out across the school what's a goal definite goal how where can I check my student is completing there now that's a good question you should hear if directly from teachers if there's a first round of assignments not being completed after there's a pattern of that teachers notify us the administration or counseling team to get involved so if we notice that there is a pattern we will definitely reach out to you we will look into whether or not we can provide a platform for you or access point to disguise ourselves just as you were able to check on grades so we'll see how we can do with that one it's a good idea okay let's we're going to pause cuz I'm seeing some please come through there that are in our presentation and then we'll come back to somebody's okay let's let's come back to the presentation just for a moment what I want to show you is that we are working on a number of things for the school would be safe and ready to go for when it is in person so here you can see the safety measures broken down by ventilation Sanitation health and hygiene user protocols that we are expecting everyone to follow and will be enforcing on campus give your mom at 3 does there's a lot there there might be some folks that only speak English Anthony we're going kind of fast do the English slides as well they might be reading through I'm not saying all these English as well leave it on the Spanish for a minute okay that's fine and won't flip back yet thank you I see questions being answered by appreciative so we have a couple more on the horizon I mean up next week later in the month going to be providing similar orientations for our tenth and eleventh grade Scholars and finally our seniors and on Wednesday July 29th 2025 then we know we will have to finalize schedules cuz right now it's really a giraffe warm by then we know we'll have to finalize schedules and really trying to help give them a better orientation as to what to expect on August 12th some of the other topics apart from distance learning schedules and expectations will include revisiting the safety measures that we just looked in Greater detail and then covering much of our school culture which we are going to continue to prioritize in the virtual world and finally digital k 9th grade summer Bridge as many of you know a special who have been in our community for years we aren't going to be running it the way we used to unfortunately for this Summer that made you change the following year if I would hope so it's really more like a series of workshops which have already begun to orientation and we'll be doing some diagnostic testing we hope to administer that testing the week of August 4th that's our goal there's a possibility that we are delighted if we are we will do it in very very early into the school year to ensure we have an accurate picture of of how we can best supports College this is going to conclude today's presentation I will definitely send out an invitation for another town hall meeting before the school year begins I don't have the date picked out yet I'm sorry that I can't share that today I know we had a really good turnout was relatively short notice for this one so I will give you more notice and then a couple days that much I promise you I just want to be sure that the next time we meet I have all the formation that you deserve to hear a need to know for your child to be successful on us to continue working his partner all of our amazing students come the start of
