in a covid rates and have the proper health and safety conditions in order to launch this program in doing so though there is still a pandemic we have we do recognize that you recognize that covid is still a very serious matter and as such we are doing a very slow roll out been over a year since we've had students in a classroom for purposes of academic needs and counseling sir this is well I'm so as such we're going to start very small with just a portion of our Scholars returning for this semester for spring semester additionally we're not having all of our stuff return but we are having a lot of them returned because it's a really big operation even for a small group of students to come back on site so that is just a summary to tell us where we're at we hope that in the call that things continue to progress the way that they are so that we can see all Scholars and all staff back on campus safely at Collins for a start to a better school year than some of the safety Health steps that we've been taking we already did we started yesterday some of our seniors might be on this meeting who where I'm at Collins yesterday doing covid-19 so we're testing all students and we're testing all staff on a biweekly basis to as part of our safety measures in addition we're providing masks and other protective gear for staff and Scholars and a training video is absolutely required with your certification to announce that you have reviewed the video and information that pertains to a in addition sorry you can go back when I slide thank you in addition I want to draw your mention to the vaccine so as I'm sure everybody's become aware of special week since April 15th all all all students 16 years and older are eligible now to receive vaccination now we know that this is a lot of information coming in at once and people have different feelings and concerns around vaccinations we do want to make clear that at this time the code vaccine though encouraged Frost and Scholars is not required right now at this time what is required is Covetous Ting Sono it in order for your child to participate in our program that is a requirement in the same is true for our staff so these are the three main areas that we are focusing our on-site support program so we are going to be offering what we're calling small group instruction and you can think of just going to come at 2:30 at night to touring in specifically we're going to start this in English Math Science and History we wish we had the capacity to expand on that an offer to other classes I'm unfortunately I'm in our efforts to start small we we had to prioritize these subject areas first in addition we are launching what are called learning pods so our students will take their Zoom classes during times and that's the gym classes are already doing but the difference is they would be doing it with a group of their peers and in a classroom setting the idea behind this is to provide a more focused environment for them to take care of business and last but at least we are having our counselors on-site to offer counseling services this is already something that they're in the works of dealing schedule an appointment this is not just a drop in as you need it situation because as we stay previously all students that are on site must have a code test so our counselors are going to have this very structured and organized with that in mind and they have a specific case load there a prioritizing start there on site Support Services so what did she know how to make one more adjustment to our bell schedule the good news it's a small so I want to make that very clear and very small adjustment for a big operation you may recall that when we first talked about on-site supports that we we had them occurring at the end of the day so one of the first changes we made was having start at the beginning of the day we know that students minds are fresher in the morning generally and it's a better time to do these instead of waiting after going through a series is in glasses and doing it at the end of the day when there might be some fatigue and they might be tired premier cambios nuestros horario El Manana de all right changes let's summarize in one more time on the next five please all right so in summary portion of our students attend on-site Support Services the first 3 days of the week Monday Tuesday Wednesday and then we have the changes that occur for all students advisory in the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday 1:30 to 2 p.m. and then advisory still Friday morning but the start and end time or are on site from the beginning of the day early on only those students will be excused from advisor on Monday and Tuesday it's because their day starts earlier than everybody else in the school job support Scholars if they are not passing advisory then we'll look for another time outside of the advisor time on Mondays and Tuesdays for them to complete work that'll help them raise a grade the one thing they will have in common with all Scholars know for sure with advisors Fridays because Thursday and Friday will remain virtual hundred percent of the time expect all Scholars weather on side or not to participate in their Friday advisories in the morning okay let's go to the next slide please okay so this kind of wax is through a typical day of a scholar who is participating in our on-site Support Services at 8:15 in the morning they arrived for on-site screen play screening is making sure they have a mask and checking the temperature that they're ready and adhering to our safety protocols 8:45 to 9:45 They will receive instruction in small groups by their teachers will be led by their teachers from 9:45 to 1:15 they will remain in the same classroom and this will be led by either an administrator operations team or counselor what we calling learning pots and these will be maximum class size is a 14 and this is simply a focused environment for our Scholars to take their Zoom classes in a school setting in connection with their peers and some adults as well and I'm so we also look for some team-building opportunities between classes during their breaks and of course during the brakes there will be a nutrition and lunch will be providing meal service in the actual classrooms that's one cash to all of that and last at 1:15 they'll be dismissed and we ask that all families involved in our on-site Support Program our extreme prompt in their arrival to the school for their child to be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. okay just want to be happy be cool estar en Persona con in our phased approach next week starts with seniors only and in the areas of economics and English 12 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays that's that morning time. For me 45 to 9:45 before going to learning pods the following week the week of April 26th we will continue as seniors and bring in juniors and we will be providing support in chemistry USC free integrated math 3 in English 11 and then our third week of during on-site Support Program are Juniors and seniors continue of course weekly but we start to bring in our 9th and 10th grade smaller group sizes but similar areas for support Living Earth integrated math 2 English 10 physics integrated math 1 in English 9 so by the week of May third will be fully launched and have all grade levels participating in some capacity but as you see the portion gets a little smaller as we go from 12 grade to ninth grade Stop Pizza in McAllen. comenzar entregar Los estudiantes. I will bring these days by Elmo yes annoying animal style a triangle pose picking you excite please okay so this is more just to recap we we talk about a previous late but making sure that we do testing by the 14th I guess now we can just played all these things have been accomplished so we're ready to go and start our first week with this next week haven't done these things disclosure just a reminder that this is new to us we're we're in this together navigating some Uncharted seas and having never done anything like this before it's just important to really be flexible because things could change things can change with the pandemic things can change with scheduling and the courses and offerings of our program on side as well so I just want to put that out there in advance in case we have to act on that and we can't say it enough that while we're extremely excited to begin phasing in a small portion of our students is the start of reopen we are going to do it slowly and we sure hope that in the very near future hopefully in the fall we can bring everybody back but that's still in the works we got to see how we do with our first set a reminder for animals but they like to touch on the cover Ohio Lottery I pulled a muscle relaxer while I'm not coming in a chat to so I know that we're one thing we want to make clear because we're starting with our seniors we've done all our Outreach to seniors to confirm their schedule and their need to come up to the school do their Kobe so that their set for next we are getting to the next grade levels now so if you are a parent who has not had a follow-up on the schedule and timing of kova testing and everything else like that engrave 9 through 11 do not worry that information is coming to you soon we prioritize their seniors because they are first up for this so she want to make that very clear do you know I have to step in and then I'm Yohan send whatever it is or it has the most  are so they got married and I have already given information OhLaLa yes yes will have replacement gear on at the school for anyone who forgets their mask all right let's go to the next slide please and these are some big announcements that I know folks are waiting to hear about so the first of these items is around testing testing has been really interesting during call but a lot of the state tests at this moment are going to be defaulted to an internal assessment the AP exams are still happening and they're going to be the old AP exams like we knew before Kobe Scandal and at least one of them AP Spanish and language is going to incur have to occur in on-site so that's going to be a big operation we have a lot of Scholars around 80 or so maybe more than that sorry but a hundred almost students enrolled in AP Spanish language and literature what are more information that will have more information on the AP exam testing in the coming week but we in this is more just to let you know that in order to do it it will have to occur on site for the Spanish one and we are developing a plan to roll. all right so examen de stop de El examen I said I'll do it myself Espanola yeah that's a good question to chat we're not about next school year yet in terms of what it what's optional what's not for this school year is optional all the students participating in our on-site support program in has been entirely optional I we we have a couple more things back on the previous side. God's if we can go back please thank you Mom activities the big one in the big question is senior events in senior activities so I've got good news and bad news let's go cast the bad news first and talk about the good news or the bad news is we're not quite sure we're not ready to do a senior prom unfortunately that is not an event that we're going to be able to hold this year that one is you difficult to pull off in the current times while maintaining social distancing practices so sincere apologies for that bad news the better side of things sorry it the same true with grad night we were not even able to schedule grad night events at the amusement parks as well or host an event at the school because social distancing is going to be incredibly difficult to do in such a large gathering in such an activity that a good news is we do have the green light to run an outdoor key word outdoor outdoor graduation ceremony that's big news so we are going to be planning to do that we're going to also have a back-up plan that will include a virtual graduation ceremony just in case we did a really really good job with it last year very short pinched of time another option for us to consider if we can't complete the outdoor graduation ceremony event is the drive-thru option for diploma pick up it also be new and something we weren't able to do and didn't do last school year so I hope that that's received well as better news it was extremely hard on all of us to be limited to a virtual graduation ceremony for the class of 2020 is very very hard on everybody except specially hard on the families of the class of 2020 we are excited to know that we can do better than that for the class of 2021 given the current time to covid Pulpit that still the case we're looking into some options for where this might occur at minimum we know that we can make that work at Collins it may not seem to be the case but many many years ago we hosted a large event side for when the school's name change from Huntington Park to Collins family so we know we can do it and that's exciting we're trying to see if we can do even better than that and find a another venue I will have more information certainly in May as to what that looks like that's exciting news the summer school is going to look different as well how far what we have are dates so a couple dates to give you that are new for one the last day of the school year for this school year has been changed its moved its earlier it's Friday June 11th 2021 previously it was the 15th so we're going to end the last day school on the 11th of June the summer school program will start three weeks later I'll start right after the 4th of July holiday and I'll start July 6th and go to the end of the month July 30th 2021 there is not a whole lot more I can tell you about summer school at this time we're in a big planning phase right now the most I could tell you is that it will likely be on site and that's the goal that we have in mind is believe there's something in the works for portraits but I don't know enough details on that right now as far as taking pictures at graduation with immediate family that is always going to be just fine I cannot say anything about Staffing in there at this moment too soon to tell I know that I for one will probably be comfortable taking photos giving that to a double vaccinated here feeling pretty good and I miss you all but that is not something that I will press upon anybody okay where are we having this isn't our closing Parts at this point it's just inviting everybody who's here with thankful for everybody that is just really really stuck with us through this incredibly difficult time I know there's been a lot of painful moments with this and there might continue to be hopefully on a much smaller scale I'm going to do our best to make it all work well.
